Quality testing of gypsum board is a crucial step in ensuring its safety and performance meet standards. Testing items mainly include dimensional deviations, appearance quality, flexural strength, surface density, moisture content, environmental performance (such as formaldehyde and volatile organic compound content), fire resistance, and sound insulation performance.

The standards used for testing include Chinese standards such as GB/T 9775-2008 "Paper-faced Gypsum Board," GB/T 23455-2009 "Fiber-reinforced Gypsum Board," and JC/T 799-2016 "Decorative Gypsum Board," as well as international standards such as ASTM C1396/C1396M-19 "Standard Specification for Gypsum Board" and ISO 3048:2019 "Gypsum Board-Definitions, Requirements, and Test Methods."

For example, flexural strength testing is often conducted according to GB/T 23455-2009, using the three-point flexural method on a universal testing machine; fire resistance testing is conducted according to GB/T 9978 standard, determining its fire resistance limit in a fire resistance testing furnace.
