In China, the production and inspection of gypsum boards must comply with national standards, such as GB/T 9775-2025 "Paper-faced Gypsum Board".
Gypsum board products can apply for China Green Building Materials Product Certification, jointly promoted by the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. For example, the "Qingsong" brand gypsum board obtained this certification in 2025. In addition, some high-end products have also passed international environmental certifications such as French A+, German Blue Angel, and Japanese F★★★★.
Regarding environmental policies, in January 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three other departments released the "Recommended List of Group Standards for Industrial Product Carbon Footprint Accounting Rules," which included gypsum products in the first batch of accounting scope, requiring enterprises to establish a full life-cycle carbon data management system.
Internationally, the U.S. Drywall Safety Act of 2012 requires that drywall products manufactured or imported into the United States must comply with the sulfur content limits specified in ASTM C1396-14a, the Standard Specification for Drywall, and must also comply with the labeling requirements of ASTM C1264-11.
