Q.Can heavy objects be hung on a gypsum board partition wall?
A: It is not recommended to hang heavy objects directly on a regular single-layer gypsum board partition wall. If you need to hang heavy objects such as televisions or wall cabinets, you should install plywood or metal embedded parts as a load-bearing base in the corresponding locations during construction, or use special hollow wall anchors. For lightweight items such as paintings and picture frames, appropriate gypsum board anchors can be used for safe fixing.
Q. Can regular gypsum board be used in bathrooms and kitchens?
A: It's not recommended. Regular gypsum board lacks moisture resistance. Prolonged exposure to high humidity environments like bathrooms and kitchens can easily lead to moisture absorption, deformation, surface powdering, and even mold. Specialized moisture-resistant gypsum board (usually with green or blue facing paper) should be used in these areas, and it should only be used in dry areas (such as areas outside the sink and cooking areas). Cement fiberboard or aluminum composite panels should still be used directly above the shower area and on the walls.
