A. Class A fire-resistant gypsum board reaches Class A1 (non-combustible), producing almost no heat release when exposed to fire, and its fire resistance limit can be increased to 3-4 hours, maintaining structural integrity for a longer period.
Q. Can a single Class A fire-resistant gypsum board achieve 3 hours of fire resistance?
A. No. A 3-4 hour fire resistance limit requires a specific system configuration, including the number of board layers, framing type, rock wool density and thickness, and joint treatment.
