Q. What's the difference between gypsum board backing and regular gypsum board?
A. Regular gypsum board is mainly used for new partition walls and ceilings, requiring a supporting framework. Gypsum board backing, on the other hand, is specifically designed for covering existing walls. It's thinner and lighter, and can be directly glued or nailed to old walls (such as brick walls, concrete walls, and old tile surfaces). It's used for old wall renovation and base leveling, and doesn't require a framework.
Q. Can tiles be directly applied to gypsum board backing?
